Africa Coordination Group - Communique

The African Coordination Group

The 5 days deliberation of the Africa Coordination Group (ACG) in Ghana from 12-16, March 2015 culminated in the thought that “Africa Will Speak to the World” through a reawakening and appreciation of its ancient values of Ubuntu which reminds us of our shared responsibility for our neighbour’s and environment.

ACG reiterates its mandate to ensure that national and programme teams observe good governance and reminds national bodies of our collective responsibilities to keep IofC values alive.  We therefore recommend the adoption of “Living Differently” initiative as a means of achieving this objective. The ACG also plans to host a meeting/training session of representatives of IofC boards in Africa.  The date and venue will be announced in due course.

The group reviewed and updated its strategic framework.  Its activities will be centred on enhancing the basics of IofC; empowering the changemaker and responding to critical situations in the chosen focus areas.

The ACG meeting created an opportunity to reconnect with and encourage the Ghanaian IofC team.  The ACG will visit other teams in the course of 2015.

The ACG reiterate its solidarity with the people of South Sudan and saddened with the stalling IGAD negotiations and wish to express its appreciation of the efforts of the SSSG and all stakeholders in offering support to South Sudanese at home and abroad.
