International Women's Day Outstanding Service Award for Kenya goes to young IofC activist

The visitors were welcomed at the Parliament of White Nile State with dancing by the Fellata community, who are of Nigerian Hausa origin

Purpose: We work to inspire, equip and connect people to address world needs, starting with themselves, in the areas of trustbuilding, ethical leadership and sustainable living.

Ann Njeri receiving the International Women's Day award, presented by the President of Rotary Club Mombasa Ann Njeri, a young Kenyan woman who is active with Initiatives of Change programmes, including Creators of Peace, Kenya I Care, Clean Elections Campaign and ‘Sustainable peace and reconciliation', has been awarded the International Women's Day Outstanding Service Award for Kenya. The award was presented to her on International Women's Day by the President of Rotary club Mombasa, President Jean Baptiste Gasangwa.

Ann writes, 'A while ago, a friend who is unknown to me, Dolce Shannon, nominated me for an International Women's Day Outstanding Service Award, am grateful that I have won that award in Kenya!

Thank you for your kind service to others and for being in alignment with Women’s Information Network (The WIN) mission “to strengthen women and families worldwide."'

As an Award recipient Ann will receive:

Global recognition for outstanding service. Recognized on www.InternationalWomensDay.org.
Placement of her picture and description of her service on the International Womens’ Day website and The Women’s Information Network website for one year.
Recognition at an International Women's Day event in her country
Membership in the Women’s Information Network WINNER’S CIRCLE for one full year. (Value = $250)
International Women’s Day Outstanding Service Award Certificate.

'I am humbled by this and I am grateful to God, Initiatives of Change organisation, my family and friends that have always supported me in all my efforts to make a difference', says Ann.

'I do acknowledge and honour the very many other people-men and women- who are tirelessly and selflessly serving humanity across the world.

'I welcome you to celebrate this recognition with me!

(Photo: Mike Brown) 'Having been presented with the award', Ann says 'You will also be pleased that the president of Rotary club Mombasa had invited me for their meeting yesterday where I shared about the peace work in Rift valley as well as my sanitary towel project for needy girls. A thousand dollars was pledged by four Rotarians yesterday and the club is also consulting on supporting the cause! I am humbled even more for overwhelming encouragement and support from all over.
