Established in 1946, the CAUX-Initiatives of Change Foundation (CAUX-IofC) organizes and coordinates international and local conferences, seminars and training in Switzerland, primarily in its Conference Centre, the former Caux-Palace, bringing together a true diversity of people.

Job description
The External Relations Officer works hand in hand with the Head of Communications and the Communications Officer to improve the positioning and visibility of CAUX-IofC Foundation and its activities in Switzerland. The Foundation’s activities include the organisation of and support to International Caux Conferences as well as various workshops, training and events across Switzerland in facilitation tools, Ethical Leadership, Dialogue in Diversity and Sustainable Living.
Main responsibilities
- Support the positioning and visibility of the CAUX-IofC Foundation and its activities in Switzerland
- Support the development and the implementation of a strong corporate identity at the internal and external level
- Develop and implement a media/press and a social media strategy in line with the Foundation’s and the communication strategies
- Act as main contact for media/press interested in the CAUX-IofC Foundation and its activities
- Track media on topics relevant for the foundation
- Draft, edit and design various collaterals if required (i.e. brochures, flyers, newsletters etc.)
- Support fundraising with draft, edit and design of documents if required
- Coordinate external service providers such as translator, editors etc.
- Be in charge of Social Media and community engagement
- Write articles or Press releases for media outlets and press as required
- Establish and maintain relationships with main stakeholders
- Be present during the Caux Conferences in summer and act as a full member of the communication team, which might include being in charge of up to 4 communication interns during the summer and up to 1 intern during the year
- Act as representative for the Head of Communications if required
- Collaborate with the Initiatives of Change (IofC) staff in Switzerland and work closely with colleagues in the Geneva and Lucerne office, assisting them in communication matters whenever necessary and in agreement with the Head of Communications
- Keep updated and informed of new trends, best practices, tools and means in communication, especially when these relate to NGOs and their work
- Keep updated, informed and attend major events in Switzerland related to the Foundation’s activities and promote the Foundation in agreement with the Head of Communications and the Secretary General
Desired profile
- University graduate or equivalent work experience in the field of communications and/or Media
- A minimum of two years professional experience in an international, multicultural environment
- Knowledge of International NGOs
- Adhesion to IofC’s values and approaches; prior IofC experience a plus
Required skills:
- Good knowledge of and be well connected to contacts in Swiss media
- Strong organizational skills
- Outgoing personality
- Team oriented and able to function well in a multilingual and multicultural environment
- Good knowledge of branding, marketing and the importance of “corporate identity”
- Passionate about people and about change
- Previous experience with ethical leadership, trustbuilding, sustainable living, and migration issues
- Flexible
- French or German mother tongue, excellent command of the other language
- Excellent knowledge of English
- Excellent writing and editing skills in French and German, web writing an asset
- Excellent knowledge of the social media environment and community engagement
Would be an asset:
- Knowledge of Drupal
- Experience in fundraising
- Working knowledge of InDesign
- Proficient in film/photography
Terms and Conditions
The candidate must be available to work in Caux above Montreux for the whole duration of the yearly summer conferences (in 2016: June 20- August 18). Costs for accommodation and meals are covered. Only applicants with Swiss/EU citizenship or a valid work permit for Switzerland will be considered.
