Nobel Peace Prize Forum

Excerpts of The Imam and the Pastor and An African Answer were screened to an audience of 500 peopleOn 7 March, Imam Dr Muhammad Ashafa and Pastor Dr James Wuye, of the Interfaith Mediation Centre in Nigeria, together with Dr Alan Channer of IofC’s FLTfilms, were speakers at the 2015 Nobel Peace Prize Forum in Minneapolis, USA.

33 copies of the double DVD set were sold at the book stallUnder the auspices of the Norwegian Nobel Institute, the Nobel Peace Prize Forum focuses on the work of Nobel Peace Prize winners and leading international peacemakers and peacebuilders. The theme of this year's forum was 'sustainable and inclusive peacemaking and peace building'.

Dr Alan Channer introduced excerpts from The Imam and the Pastor and An African Answer. He emphasised that both films were made to help amplify and sustain a new peace-building dynamic, made possible by the reconciliation between Imam Ashafa and Pastor Wuye.

Imam Muhammad Ashafa and Pastor James Wuye in conversation with Rev Mark HansonThe two Nigerian faith leaders were engaged in a conversation moderated by Rev Mark Hanson, former presiding bishop of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of America. They received a standing ovation.

Other participants at the Forum included former President of the United States Jimmy Carter and Deputy Chair of the Global Elders and former Prime Minister of Norway, Dr Gro Harlem Brundtland.
