Farm Women Empowerment and Remunerative Technologies

The next International Farmers’ Dialogue will take place in India 4-10 December 2014, hosted by Dr Panjabrao Deshmukh, Agricultural University, Akola and Grampari, Asia Plateau, Panchgani.

Together, now, we cordially invite you to launch the imminent phase in transformation, unveiling powerful key thematic solutions aspiring, thereby, to validate the assurance of viable participative ventures offered by progressive and open minded farmers, NGOs, Learning communities, academicians, scientists, researchers and extension outreach specialists as well as policy makers and journalists.

Themes

1. Enriching Technology Solutions. Revisiting farm women empowerment; implementing viable imminent socio- economic interventions preventing farmer suicides.

2. Encouraging Urban Farming and Resource management. Popularizing interventions of rain water harvesting, waste water management, soil and water conservation, urban and terrace farming and kitchen gardening.

3. Vetting Resilient Technologies. Identifying and promoting indigenous initiatives; inviting, extending and facilitating global exchanges.

4. Sharing Transformative experiences in Farming including effective self-help groups. Endorsing emergent challenges in farming: sharing the farmer's perspective; case studies and best emergent practices in farming across the world.

5. Demonstrating GRAMPARI in action at Asia Plateau. Showcasing exemplary viable low-cost options assuring improved health, sanitation and water manage.

Programme

Wednesday, 3 December 2014 5 pm. Delegates assemble at Akola (Maharashtra). Akola is well connected by rail with Mumbai, Pune, Delhi and Nagpur. Nagpur and Aurangabad (about 3.30 hrs travel) are the nearest airports.

Thursday, 4 December 2014 10 am. Inauguration

Thursday-Saturday, 4-6 December 2014. Technical Sessions and field visits. Each day's programme shall consist of technical sessions and field visits. Visits include sites of organic farms, medicinal and aromatic farms and on-site dialogue with affected families.

Sunday, 7 December 2014. Departure by road to Shirpur, district Dhulia (about 4 hr. travel). Visit to rain water recycled perennial reservoirs and irrigation facilities created and utilized by progressive farmers, including spectacular resultant transformation in the overall farming scenario.

Monday, 8 December 2014. Travel by road to Asia Plateau, Panchgani. Arrival followed by Welcome session and visit to Grampari.

Tuesday, 9-10 December 2014. Technical sessions and field visits. Wednesday, December 10th, 2014. Conference ends at 5 pm
