IofC in Brief

Who we are: Initiatives of Change (IofC) is a world-wide movement of people of diverse cultures and backgrounds, who are committed to the transformation of society through changes in human motives and behaviour, starting with their own.

The visitors were welcomed at the Parliament of White Nile State with dancing by the Fellata community, who are of Nigerian Hausa origin

Purpose: We work to inspire, equip and connect people to address world needs, starting with themselves, in the areas of trustbuilding, ethical leadership and sustainable living.

Initiatives of Change connects with many organizations and networks, sometimes in formal partnerships, sometimes just by association through working for the same goals or on joint projects. Though recognizing the value of their various approaches, Initiatives of Change is not responsible for the content of these external websites.

Global Partnership for the Prevention of Armed Conflict
A world-wide civil society-led network aiming to build a new international consensus on peacebuilding and the prevention of violent conflict.

International Centre for Religion and Diplomacy
Addresses identity-based conflicts that exceed the reach of traditional diplomacy by incorporating religion as part of the solution.

International Day of Peace Vigil
An international multi-faith network which exists to promote a day of prayer each year on 21st Sept – the UN 'International Day of Peace'.

International Coalition for the Decade for the Promotion of a Culture of Peace and Non-Violence for the Children of the World
IofC International is a member of this coalition, which aims to encourage non-violence and peace education.

UN Alliance of Civilisations
Established in 2005, at the initiative of the Governments of Spain and Turkey, under the auspices of the United Nations. The AoC Secretariat, based in New York, works in partnership with States, international and regional organizations, civil society groups, foundations, and the private sector to mobilize concerted efforts to promote cross-cultural relations among diverse nations and communities.

United Nations Peace Building Commission
A new Intergovernmental advisory body of the United Nations that supports peace efforts in countries emerging from conflict.

World Conference of Religions for Peace
The largest global coalition of representatives from the world's great religions dedicated to an enduring mission: stop war, end poverty, protect the earth.

World Congress of Imams and Rabbis for Peace
Bringing together imams and rabbis who seek to initiate rapprochement between Judaism and Islam

Charter for Compassion
Bringing together the voices of people from all religions, the Charter seeks to remind the world that while all faiths are not the same, they all share the core principle of compassion and the Golden Rule.

Council for a Parliament of the World's Religions
Aims to cultivate harmony among the world's religions and spiritual communities and foster their engagement with the world in order to achieve a just, peaceful and sustainable world.
