In a series of interviews Vanguard, one of the foremost national daily newspapers in Nigeria, showcases the efforts of several young Nigerians making a difference in their own little corner and beyond. Victor Gotevbe highlights Obas Ukoko in the 8 October edition, 'a self-appointed ambassador of Nigeria to the world.'
With the headline, 'Youthful Vibes', the article describes Ukoko's upbringing, including a love of music, and of his month in Caux, the Initiatives of Change (IofC) international conference centre in Switzerland, where he worked as an intern. He later travelled to Asia for nine months with the IofC programme Action for Life, where he discovered how mistrusted Nigerians are by immigration officers. 'At that moment I made up my mind to be a self-appointed ambassador of Nigeria to the world.'
Ukoko Obas is described in the article as a 'Coordinator/Mentor of Harambee Africa Leadership Training Programme, which has taken place in South Africa, Kenya, Ghana, Ethiopia and now Nigeria. A singer and songwriter, leadership and Conflict Resolution trainer.'
Later this month Ukoko will be participating in the next Harambee Leadership training course
