Farmers’ Dialogue
DEA - DR Congo

This dialogue was organized by Kenya and DR Congo Farmers Dialogue teams as FDI countries participated in Land and Security Dialogue at Caux, Switzerland in July 2017 which covered ; profitable land restoration, land governance and peace building. It’s aim was to pursue the lessons learned and resolutions made during Caux dialogue by both countries sharing their experiences, innovations and practices on the stated themes as a way of reaching farmers and partners in these countries.

Iman and Pastor, UN award 2017, Alan Channer, Intercultural Innovation Award

Pastor James Wuye and Imam Muhammad Ashafa, of the Interfaith Mediation Centre in Nigeria, were among five recipients of this year’s prestigious 2017 ‘Intercultural Innovation Award’, conferred by the United Nations Alliance of Civilisations and BMW. The Award Ceremony took place at UN Headquarters in New York on 29 November 2017.

Zimbabwe youth conference participants

Moral Re-Armament/Initiatives of Change (MRA/IofC) Zimbabwe held a second national youth conference in Gweru at the Baptist Seminary Conference centre from 7 to 12 December 2017. The aim was 'Change – from Personal to Global'. A conference earlier in the year ran under the theme ‘From a Group to a Team’ and has seen MRA/IofC Zimbabwe establish two youth groups in Harare and Gweru which meet once every week as well as active involvement in local communities. Thirty young people between ages of 15-27 and representing five cities came together to learn more about ‘Change - from Personal to Global’ and ‘Changes start with you and me; be the change you want to see; take the initiative’.

It is helpful for a European to see our planet from the other side. My daughter Camilla and I were in Tokyo 16-28 November, mainly to participate in Japan’s '39th IofC International Forum'. She represented IofC’s International Council, I had received a generous invitation to come back after countless previous visits and a five year stay in the 1950’s. In returning to Japan, I was conscious that the world’s centre of gravity had moved from the West to Asia. Now it is Asia’s turn to lead. In my opinion, the West was responsible for turning the 20th century into a catastrophe. I was keen to discover if Asia had learned from the West’s failure.
